[www.inewsguyana.com]A Graphic Designer of Lot 149 Danrade Street, Kitty, charged with unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition was today remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Dellon Morgan pleaded not guilty to the charges which alleged that on Saturday, January 25 at De Abreu Street, Kitty, Georgetown he had in his possession one Luger Pistol with four live rounds of 9mm ammunition, when he was not a holder of a firearm license.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant said that police were on patrol duty when they saw the defendant walking on the road with a small black plastic bag in his hand. He was subsequently stopped and a search was carried out on his person, when the gun with ammunition was found in the bag, along with a number plate: PHH 44 56.

Grant successfully objected to bail citing the prevalence of the offence and the fact that the defendant is on bail for a robbery matter while being charged with this offence. Bail was refused and the matter stands adjourned to February 20.
