[www.inewsguyana.com] – The majority of iNews participants do not believe that enough attention is being paid to animal welfare in Guyana.
The question – Do you believe enough attention is being given to animal welfare in Guyana? – was asked in an iNews Poll for the period April 27 – May 03, where 96 percent voted ‘No’, a more two percent voted ‘Yes’ and another two percent were undecided.
In 2013, two executives of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) were in Guyana on a mission to solicit government’s support for a declaration on animal rights that could see the United Nations (UN) adopting the resolution.
The Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare is geared to inform member countries about the regulations and policy guidelines that are necessary for the care, treatment and protection of animals.
This article is very true, not enough is being done to protect our animals; please do something to enforce laws to stop animal cruelty; too many animals are being abused and abandoned. As Mr Dundee rightly quoted the great Mahatma Gandhi – the progress of a nation is determined by the way it treats their animals!
Glad to see that Guyana is being more sensitive to animals welfare.
