[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – year – old Floyd Archer of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway was placed on $500,000 bail for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving.

The defendant, who is a construction worker, appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on February 16 at Marudi Public Road, Linden Soesdyke Highway, he drove motorcar PPP 9953 in a manner dangerous to the public, causing the death of Jasmine Norton.

His lawyer, Mark Conway told the Court that on the fateful day, his client was returning from Linden at 10:00 pm, when a light from another vehicle in the opposite direction blurred his vision, causing him to swerve to the side of the road and he consequently crashed into a parked truck.

The Court heard that wood from the truck hit the VC, who was a passenger in his car, resulting in her death.
