Charges dismissed against couple who threatened to poison each other

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday dismissed threatening language charges against a couple of Lot 71 Gordon Street, Kitty who threatened to poison each other.

Sixty – year – old Richard Singh and his 43-year-old wife, Nalinie Beharry both pleaded not guilty to separate charges, which alleged that on Tuesday, January 7 at Kitty Georgetown, they made use of threatening language to each other.

Attorney – at – Law, Paul Fung – A – Fat represented Beharry and informed the Magistrate that the couple does not wish to give further evidence in the matter.

According to the lawyer, the couple operates a cane juice business and on the day in question, the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding.

Magistrate McLennan respond, “I hope they don’t poison the cane juice”.

She told the couple that these are serious allegations and they are bonded to keep the peace for the next six months. She declared that breaching this bond may result in three months imprisonment.
