Campbellville man granted $100,000 bail for allegedly stealing Gold Bracelet

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 30 – year – old man of Campbellville, Georgetown, charged with larceny was granted $100,000 bail by Magistrate Faith McGusty.

BarkerHoosay Barker pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that May 19 at Croal Street, he stole from Mervin Mohamed, one gold band worth $160,000.

Police Prosecutor, Seon Blackman said on the day in question, the virtual complainant was walking along the road when the defendant approached him and snatched the band.

Mohamed gave chase and with the assistance of a Police officer in plainclothes, Barker was apprehended and the stolen article was lodged at the Brickdam Police Station.

The prosecutor objected to Barker’s pretrial liberty on the grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.  Attorney-at-law, Adrian Thompson requested bail for his client and assured the Court that his client is willing to report and lodge his passport.

Barker was ordered to report to Sergeant Bowman at Criminal Investigations Department (CID) every Friday at 09:00 hrs and will return to Court for June 16.
