[www.inewsguyana.com] – Eon Ferrier was remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan on Wednesday, July 01, after being charged with defrauding his employers of $120 million.

Ferrier was employed by Mohammed’s Enterprise as a Manager at their Bartica, Region 7 office for some six years now. The Court heard that he could not give account for the money which was given to him by Nazar Mohammed to purchase gold between June 22 – 28.

His lawyer applied for bail, informing the court that Ferrier was arrested since Sunday, June 28 at his business place and had some $67M in his possession that was confiscated by the police.

The lawyer also accused the police of threatening his client while in custody. Prosecutor Latchmi Rahamat told the Court that the accused was under investigation for a similar matter involving $60 million.

She objected to bail on the grounds that the accused is a flight risk and that he may tamper with witnesses. The Prosecutor also told the Court that the accused refused to present himself at a police station when he was invited to do so.

He will make his next court appearance on July 03 at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
