Brazilian Miner charged with forgery

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Brazilian national, Raimundo Norato Barros pleaded guilty to the offences of uttering a forged document and conspiracy before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

IMG_20140612_165435He was fined $75,000 with an alternative of three months imprisonment on each charge.

The Court heard that on June 10 at Ogle International Airport, East Coast Demerara, with intent to defraud he uttered to Constable Natasha Hally his Brazilian passport B001202 with one fake immigration entry stamp.

It is also alleged that between May 1 and 13 at Georgetown, he conspired with person or persons unknown to forge two Guyana immigration stamps in his Brazilian passport, purporting to show that same was issued by an immigration officer, knowing same to be false.

He was represented by Attorney – at – Law, Peter Hugh. He told the Court that his client is a miner in Guyana for the past five years and a father of three minor children.
