Body of woman discovered at Kaieteur gorge; believed to be missing tourist

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Government has confirmed that officials have found the body of a woman believed to be that of missing tourist, Gyaneshwarie Laleta Sivanand who went missing at the Kaieteur National Park on September 01.

Minister of Governance, Raphael Trotman told iNews that the woman’s body was discovered in the last 24 hours at the bottom of the Kaieteur Falls and officials from the Guyana Police Force and and Defence Force are already en route.

He explained that while there has been no positive identification of the body, it is believed to be that of the missing tourist. Her body was spotted on Saturday by a Kaieteur National Park staff.

The woman was part of a flight that had a total of nine passengers to the falls and sometime during the tour, she was discovered to be missing.

Contrary to what the woman had told people on the trip, she is neither a doctor nor an environmentalist. As a matter of fact, she is a former employee of Laparkan and Singer’s.

After being closed immediately following the disappearance of the woman, the Kaieteur National Park was opened on September 09.

  1. Very strange place. Krishna Sankar died there as well as the Bulkan girl. Only God knows what really happened on that fateful day. RIP
