Bandit shot dead by accomplice during home invasion



Crime scene[] – A bandit was accidentally shot dead by his accomplice in Number Eleven Village, Corentyne last night (Sunday June 8) when they invaded a home and attempted kill a housewife.

Police confirmed moments ago that they are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 19:10 hours last night at No. 11 Village, Corentyne, during which 55 – year – old Rohan Doodnauth and his wife Renawattie Doodnauth were attacked and robbed by three men, two of whom were armed with firearms.

According to reports, the three perpetrators entered the premises and held up Doodnauth and his wife along with an employee.

They demanded cash and valuables and some Jewellery were handed over. Not satisfied with the Jewellery, the men made more demands and threatened the victims during which one of them discharged a round that struck one of his accomplices to the body.

Neighbouring residents responded, forcing the men to flee; leaving the wounded man behind.

He has been identified as 20 – year – old Avinash Rambazad called “Pandit”, of Adelphi Village, East Canje, and Berbice.

He succumbed today while receiving medical treatment at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
