[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – four – year old Calvin Johnson, accused of robbery underarms, was placed before City Magistrate, Judy Latchman to answer to the offence.

It is alleged that on November 3, 2015 at America Street, Georgetown being armed with a gun, he robbed Riebert Frazer of $820,000, US$3,000, $2,000 TT, and $2,000 SR; the total value of $1.6M.

It is also alleged that on that same day, at the same location, he robbed Osafo Ward of $400,000, US$700. He pleaded not guilty to both offenses.

In objecting to bail, the Prosecution noted that on the day in question, the accused was in the company of others, when they carried out the robbery. The court heard that Johnson was positively identified by two of the complainants during an identification parade.

However, the seemingly distressed Johnson lamented that he never once admitted to the police he was a part of gang or the robbery. He said the only reason he decided to turn himself him in is because he heard he was being implicated.

He was remanded to prison and is slated to re-appear in court on December 01.
