40-Y-0 man charged with attempted murder

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Forty – year – old Bernard Matthias appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday, October 19, 2015 charged with the offense of attempted murder.

The court heard that Matthias of Three Brothers Village, Waini, North West District on October 18, 2015 with intent to commit murder, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Orin Mendonca.

Bernard Matthias was not allowed to plead to the indictable offense. According to the Prosecution, the victim is still hospitalized, nursing several chop wounds about his head and body.

As such Chief Magistrate McLennan remanded Matthias to prison and he is scheduled to make his next court appearance on November 17 at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
