[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Porter attached to John Fernandes has been sentenced to two years imprisonment after pleading guilty to robbing a University of Guyana (UG) student of a cellular phone.
Forty-three-year-old Shem France [no address stated] pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that on Wednesday, September 09 at Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, he robbed Arudranath Parasnath of one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued $250,000.
According to the prosecution, the virtual complainant (VC) had just left UG and was in Prashad Nagar, when France accosted him while on a bicycle, demanding that he hand over his valuables.
Prosecutor Dinero Jones said that the victim raised an alarm and public spirited citizens managed to apprehend France. He was escorted to the Prashad Nagar Police outpost.
