12kg Ganja found stashed at Skeldon wharf – three arrested

Three persons have been arrested following the discovery of 12 kilograms of cannabis in Corriverton, Corentyne, on Thursday.
Reports are that the illegal drug was concealed in a black travelling bag which was stashed between some bushes near the  Skeldon Wharf.

drug bust1INews understands that Police Officers were present at Eno Boat Landing at Skeldon when three suspects approached and boarded a boat saying that they were going to Suriname. Acting on information, the three men were taken off the boat and searched. However, nothing illegal was found on them.

When the boat left for Suriname, it took a different route and went to Line Path, Skeldon. According to a senior Police Officer, based on intelligence, two officers went to the wharf where they found a black travelling bag containing 12 transparent plastic bags with a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. It was later weighed and tested.

Meanwhile, further investigation resulted in the arrest of workers at Eno Boat Landing. The three men arrested are a boat captain and two porters.
Police investigations continue.
