[www.inewsguyana.com] – The United States has commended efforts by the APNU+AFC administration in its attempt to restore local government organs.

The Government on Friday, November 20 announced that Local Government Elections would be held on March 18, 2016 after decades of no local government polls.

US Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway at a reception to mark his arrival, commended the government’s move.

“I don’t think that Guyanese understand how significant local government elections are for Guyana,” Holloway stated.

He implored that with the restoration of local democracy, Guyana is bound to flourish.

“Guyana will change and if the people and political parties and private sector all work together, the change will be so great for Guyana,” said the Ambassador.

Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo welcomed the new Ambassador, emphasizing that the US and Guyana have always enjoyed a cordial relationship and will continue to do so.

“We would also wish to share our continuing friendship and the strong bonds of cordiality and good relationship that have existed between the United States and Guyana…We would hope to work with every country in the world for peace ad for good will among ,” he stated.

  1. Do we need them to certify our work? Why US not worried about the economic situation and raising crime ? LGE is not going to be in their favor. GECOM and these foreign agencies will once again try to silence the voice of voters.
