Tattoo Artist denied bail on narcotics charge

A tattoo artist appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Twenty – five – year old Nicholas Choy of 184 Charlotte Street Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that on July 7 at Merriman’s Mall Georgetown; 35 grams of cannabis was found in his possession.

The accused who was not represented by an Attorney told the court that on the day in question he was attending to a customer at his store when a rank from the Guyana Police Force Narcotics Branch came and arrested him.

Choy said the rank took him inside of the store and showed him a shoe in which the illegal substance was found. The police prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that the accused is a flight risk and that he may not return to court for trial. The Magistrate refused bail and Choy is to make his next court appearance on July 19. [Royan Abrams]
