[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 20-year-old Sophia, East Coast Demerara boy allegedly murdered his abusive stepfather on Monday October 14.

After fleeing the scene of the crime, the young man turned himself in to the Police.

Dead is 48-year-old Galton McAlmond commonly called ‘Lance’ of 266 A’Field Sophia, East Coast Demerara.

The dead man’s reputed wife of 11 years Sharon Nunes claimed that he was an alcoholic and very abusive and would torment her along with her two sons every day.

“Me and he name on this land but I said I would go down at the back for peace sake so he can bring he rum friends or whatever… oh God it too much, I can’t explain how much thing he does talk,” Nunes exclaimed.

She told reporters that the man had protested her decision to move. She claimed that it was this plan to move that led to an altercation between McAlmond and her older son, Emmanuel Green.

“After he go inside he push the door with a fork , I said lance what happen to you and I try pulling he but I couldn’t  control it no more so I step out, next thing I know like my son chop him and he fall down,” she added.

McAlmond was chopped to his neck. She claimed that residents in the area were unwilling to take her reputed husband to the hospital resulting in his death.

Meanwhile, the woman’s allegations that the man was abusive to her was supported by some residents who crowded the street, however others shouted that the murder was premeditated.

Police are investigating the incident.
