pregnant-woman-in-hospital[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has revealed that a total of 657 babies were born to teenage mothers for the period January 01 – July 31, 2015.

According to the statistics provided by the GPHC, the teenage mothers range from under 14 to 19 years old. In 2014, for the same period 673 babies were born to teenage mothers.

The GPHC noted that for this year thus far, 3,125 babies were delivered and of that number only 3075 were successful, while 50 of those babies were still births.

During, the same period last year the hospital successfully delivered 3151 babies out of its 3207 deliveries and 56 were still births.

“These figures illustrate that the hospital has recorded a decrease in deliveries during this period compared to last year as well as a decrease in babies being born to teenage mothers,” the GPHC noted.

It was further revealed that deliveries in January 2015 surpassed the other months with a total of 565 babies being delivered while the same period last year, April had the highest amount of deliveries with a total of 501 babies being born at the hospital.

The GPHC’s maternity ward admitted a total of 5092 patients during this period.

  1. The teenage mothers range from under 14 to 19 years old. Does this not tell you that the RED THREAD people are not on the ball. Maybe they are too busy counting the 400 hundred thousand it got from US or may be these cases wont gain political miles for the PNC RED THREAD people.
