[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Kaieteur National Park (KNP) has been re-opened as of Wednesday, September 16, 2015.

The body of the woman, who had gone missing, was retrieved and transported by plane to Georgetown on Wednesday for a post-mortem examination to be conducted later in the week, according to a release from the Ministry of the Presidency.

The body, which was first spotted by a KNP Ranger late Saturday afternoon, was found in a rocky area at the base of the Falls, which had previously been submerged by high water levels.

Late in the afternoon of Tuesday September 1, it was discovered that Gyaneshwarie Laleta Sivinand, who arrived at the KNP on an Air Services Limited flight, was missing after she left her group on the way back from touring the Falls.

A search operation was immediately launched by the KNP Rangers. An expanded search was later led by the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and the Guyana Police Force (GPF), focusing on the base of the Falls and the surrounding gorge and trails, but no trace of the woman had been found at that time.

She was eventually found on September 12. iNews had reported that Sivinand was seen crying while on the phone on the plane; however when the aircraft landed at the Falls, she appeared perky.

It has been reported that the flight had a total of nine passengers and sometime during the tour, she was discovered to be missing. Contrary to what the woman had told people on the trip, she is neither a doctor nor an environmentalist. As a matter of fact, she is a former employee of Laparkan and Singer’s.
