GPF hosts ‘historic’ reception for visiting NYPD cops

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, DSM and a team on behalf of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on October 31 invited the visiting members of the New York Police Department (NYPD) to be guests of honor at the Police Officers Mess, Eve Leary.

A press release from the Police Force noted that the reception was organized by the hierarchy of the Force and was described as an historic event since it was the first time such a function was held at the Officers Mess for ranks of the New York Police Department.

It was noted that welcome and opening remarks were made by the President of the Mess Committee who is also Commander ‘A’ Division, Assistant Commissioner, Clifton Hicken.

“The Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, DSM also gave a brief speech and conveyed the condolences of the Guyana Police Force to the visiting ranks for their fallen hero.”

According to the release, the occasion was graced by the presence of Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan.

“The N.Y.P.D officers, most of whom have Guyanese roots, were extremely appreciative to the Guyana Police Force for such an event, which saw the Police String Band performing to its best.”

  1. I’m glad that they hosted a reception for their NYPD counterparts everything that’s good will come out of this…there was a lot of high ranking people in that group of NYPD officers.

  2. That’s some good, refreshing news. Officer Holder was indeed special in his life and even in death because in his death he was a unifying force bringing his and our police department together. Let’s hope great things come out of this encounter. Not only did his family lose, but the USA and Guyana lost a precious soul.
