Community service, $3,000 fine for Construction Worker found with Marijuana

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 20 – year – old construction worker was fined $3,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the offence of possession of narcotics.

Fidel France of No. 11 Field North Mocha, East Bank Demerara pleaded guilty to the charge during his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 11.

The Court heard that on February 09 at North Ruimveldt Public Road, Georgetown, he had four grammes of marijuana in his possession.

Representing the defendant was Attorney-at-Law, Ronald Daniels, who told Court that his client dropped out of school at the age of 14 to take care of his family.

Along with the fine, France was also ordered to perform six months community service.
