[www.inewsguyana.com] – Camp Street Prisoner Rudolph Nurse, 39, was today remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan on a narcotics charge.

He initially pleaded guilty to the offence, which stated that on December 07 at Camp Street Prison, Georgetown, he had in his possession 8 and half grammes of Marijuana.

However, based on the explanation he gave the Court, a not guilty plea was recorded on his behalf.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the Court that on the day in question, Prison Officer Kevon carried out a search on Nurse and found seven plastic parcels in his crotch.

The said substance was weighed in his presence and further investigations were carried out.

The unrepresented man told the Court that he has three children and is serving a four year jail term on a break and enter charge. He denied smuggling the prohibited substance in the Prison.

Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to January 8, 2015.
