[www.inewsguyana.com] – South American Youth bronze medalist, Jason Yaw was able to claim victory in the ‘B’ final of the boy’s 400 metres on Saturday [August 23] at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

Yaw clocked an impressive 47.47s in the final, four tenth of a second off his personal record of 47.43s to win the event ahead of Australia’s Michael Mullet 47.84s and Trinidadian Kashief King who clocked 47.94s for third.

Even though Yaw was able to salvage the victory for himself and Guyana, the top athlete might be a bit disappointed that such a performance did not come in his preliminary round where he clocked a sub-par 49.41s.

In addition, Yaw’s sensational performance in the ‘B’ final can be attributed to the fact that he was better acclimatized after spending time in Nanjing compared to when he ran his preliminary round earlier in the week.
