Unlicenced driver killed after slamming into utility pole in Mahaicony


A 51-year-old farmer reportedly died on the spot on Monday afternoon, after the vehicle he was driving collided into a utility pole in Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

Dead is Carl Richmond of Strath Campbell, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

According to information received from Police “C” Division Commander, Calvin Brutus, the incident occurred at around 15:30hrs.

INews understands that Richmond reportedly took his cousin’s motorcar, HC 6694 without his permission, and was proceeding at a fast rate on the backdam road of Strath Campbell, Mahaicony when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby utility pole.

He died almost instantly.

Richmond was said to be an unlicenced driver.
