Two years jail for prisoner who escaped from GPHC

court[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twenty – One – year old Dexroy Brown was sentenced to two years in jail for escaping from the Georgetown Public Hospital, while under lawful custody.

Brown pleaded guilty with an explanation before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry. Particulars of the offence stated that on March 9 at the Georgetown Public Hospital; while being a prisoner and under security, he escaped.

In his explanation, Brown told the court that he was at the Hospital for medical attention under police guard, when he paid the police $60,000 to release his hand cuff and as soon as the officer fell asleep, he left the hospital.
