Rugby Union receives US$7000 from Beharry Group

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) was presented with a cheque worth US$7,000 from the Beharry Group of Companies in an effort to help Guyana field the best team to the 2014 NACRA Seven’s Championships scheduled for December 03 in Mexico.

The money will be used to fly home the overseas based players who will start training with the local ruggers of the team. Patron of the GRFU, Kit Nascimento was elated with the response from the company.

“Today we are here to celebrate because Beharry has come through big time… to put a winning team in the park we need to bring home some top players but the biggest expense the union faces is bringing home our top players. Beharry is bringing home these players,” Nasceimento noted.

Director of Edward B Beharry, Anjali Beharry – Strand commended the national ruggers on their efforts over the years and related that the sponsorship in an investment in the team to accomplish great possibilities.

“They won the Caribbean championships for many many years in a row and through our sponsorship, it gives Guyana an opportunity to possibly represent us at the 2016 Olympic Games and for that we are extremely proud and pleased to give them this opportunity,” Beharry-Strand mentioned.

President of the GFRU, Peter Green was breathing a bit easier with the sponsorship as he stressed that it will benefit the ruggers greatly.

The players expected to arrive in Guyana to start training are; Australia based, Kevin MacKenzie, US based, Vallon Adams and Isaiah Allen and Trinidad and Tobago based Ronald Mayers, Peabo Hamilton, Richard Staglon and Claudius Butts.
