Rain hampers work on Synthetic Track

The Paste used to Hold the rubber to the Asphalt[www.inewsguyana.com]Rains have again hampered work at the Synthetic Athletic Track located at Leonora, West Coast of Demerara.

During a briefing last week, Sport Minister Dr Frank Anthony said that the company needs to have a dry season to complete the laying of the track.

He said that the German company Regupol, had to leave the country on account of the inclement weather persisting but he expects them to be back sometime later this month during a dry period.

Dr Anthony reiterated that there needs to be sunshine for the laying of the synthetic Surface.

He indicated that they are expecting to complete at least two of the grandstands in the near future in order to accelerate the facility which is already behind scheduled.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alfred King says that the track not only has the main aim of hosting national events but international ones as well.
