The Speaker had asked the Minister to apologize after she heckled “ask the APNU member Sharma” while MP Volda Lawrence was addressing the issue of rape in the society during her very emotive presentation.

Trotman said “I deem it to be highly improper and if you don’t apologize I will not recognize you to participate in this debate.”

Manickchand stood to her feet after the objection was raised by Sharma and the Speaker and refused to apologize.

She said she was in no way hitting at MP Sharma.

There were allegations of rape leveled against the father of MP Sharma, CN Sharma.

  1. CN sharma is a good man, people just try to attack him because he is plain spoken and exposes the injustice that people do in Guyana, Some people in Guyana wants to do their wrong things but they do not want transparency. If people are bold to do what they do they should put it in the media. And do not victimize people who own media houses, it is their business, media house is to air what is going on, and to get to the point, no man is his father or brother keeper so that statement to totally erroneous. That lady Priya Manickchand is just out a turns and she does talk out a turns.

  2. this was a good decision made by the House Speaker, freedom of expression within the house should never be taken as a right to get personal. During the life of this parliament this same comment was made to MP Sharma. Minister Ali should also be warned about his closeness to that line. Is it that these two MPs have no understanding about the DOs/DONOTs within the august house.
