[www.inewsguyana.com] – President Donald Ramotar has signalled his intention to have “further talks” with Health Minister Dr Bheri Ramsaran over a recent verbal assault of women’s rights activist, Sherlina Nageer.

The Health Minister launched a scathing verbal onslaught on Nageer on Monday, April 20 outside the Whim Magistrate’s Court where he called the woman “a little piece of sh@t” and also told her that he would slap her “just for fun.”

After Ramsaran would have been widely condemned for his reproachable statements, he issued an apology, but mere hours after was back at it again, this time labelling Nageer as a “miscreant” and someone who is in need of “psychiatric” help.

President Ramotar in a statement on Friday, April 24 said that “the statements and behaviour of the Minister do not reflect the high-standards I have set for Ministerial conduct nor the public’s expectations of an office holder. It is outright disrespectful and improper. I intend to have further discussions with the Minister on this matter.”

Both the US and British Envoys have condemned the Minister’s utterances saying that had that happened in either of their government, the person would have been expected to tender his/her resignation.

  1. Yes she did show decency and dignity when she asked the questions. The health minister did not want to answer her questions and that’s where the fight started. He is an educated man he should have known better. The main point is do not disrespect anyone. Women are the back bone of the family and that’s something Guyanese men need to learn. Those same women that some men treat like shit have to take care of the kids and take care of them when the get old. Always remember your mother or sister. Would you like someone to treat them with disrespect? No woman no man always remember that my friend.

  2. Yes she was right to ask him the questions she asked. the questions that she asked was for all people of guyana. Kids are killing them self every day or every other day in guyana. We have the highest death rate in the Caribbean and it’s his job to take care of that. Yes he was placed in his position by the PPP, but he is the health minister for every Guyanese.

  3. It is a shame that such an uncouth illiterate could be a minister in any government!. It is truly a reflection of the leadership of that party. Remember that the fish stinks from the head down.

  4. What is there to talk about? The minister is an utter disgrace to his party, but most of all a disgrace as a representative of the GUYANESE people. This has disgraced guyana even more now internationally. Any talk should be requesting his resignation.

  5. Sherlina Nageer should be arrested and charged for disturbing the Peace and Provocation, and Harassment, and spitting in the man face, and Intimidation too.
    What right must be right.

  6. No…….now let me ask you..yes or no answer…in the manner she carried herself both times ..at the opening of the marriot.. and at whim…was she right…just a yes or no…and if u ask me..i will tell you..the man should resigned just after saying what he said to her..hope this is the answer u looking for..

  7. Pot telling kettle he bottom black. Did the President not too long ago advocate violence to a school teacher when the teacher spoke out just Like Nageer did from the crowd and did the president not say that the man woulda get a slap from Jagdeo if he bin de. the Health minister did the same thing the president did. So the president can’t tell him anything.

  8. Mr green. May I ask you a question? It’s a yes or no answer. Once again yes or no answer. Do you felt what the minister of Heath said to the woman was right?

  9. PNC women feel they can break any law and get away with them because they have formed groups to represent themselves. Examples: Women groups, PNC youth groups, Human rights, etc. etc. None of these groups speak out against the three female that was physically attacked last Sunday by haters, leaving marks of violence on them.
None of the groups bombarded Vanessa Kissoon in condemnation for her THREATS!, HECKLING!, and INTIMIDATION against Minister Juan Edgil.
The only fair people was the police.

  10. hes a mook ..he fell for the trap..he must resign…hilary clinton is a bigger mook..she vote for war agaisnt iraq…where tens of thousands of innocent humans were slaughtered…she may very well be the next President of US..way to go pnc bloggers..vote hilary ..vote out ppp ppp like cuss..they dont kill but like cuss..thats enough reason to vote dem out

  11. Guyanese should call for this minister to step down. He has no respect for his position and for women. It’s sad but guyana is still back in time when it comes to the treatment of women.

  12. Your apparent resistance to remove Bheri from his position, makes me wonder if perhaps he has “SECRETS” the PPP would rather keep under wraps. With reference to your statement. “the statements and behavior of the Minister do not reflect the high-standards I have set for Ministerial conduct nor the public’s expectations of an office holder. It is outright disrespectful and improper. I intend to have further discussions with the Minister on this matter.” He’s not your child, and although I believe in forgiveness, this is grown man who has an issue with respecting women. It’s one thing to react at the moment, when you’re angry, but to keep it going behind closed doors is inexcusable. Demand his resignation, now.

  13. Seriously…further discussions…sounds like what you do to a child who is misbehaving…Donald forgot he stood by Anil Nandalall…
