[www.inewsguyana.com] – Political interference is greatly hampering the true potential of the manufacturing sector in Guyana.
This is according to veteran businessman, Dr Yesu Persaud, who made the remarks at the launch of the candy factory – “Sueria Manufacturing Inc” – on Saturday.
Dr Persaud, who is also the founder and former chairman of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) called on President Donald Ramotar to ensure local investors are allowed to get on with their business.
The IPED founder also noted that local investors are sometimes given the “royal run around.” He called for intervention in this regard.
However, President Ramotar believes the real problem lies in the lack of cheap energy. The President took the opportunity to reassure of his government’s commitment to the realization of the Hydropower Project despite non support from the combined Opposition parties.
Local investors have been complaining about the challenges they face with investment opportunities in Guyana.
