Police hunting killer in Sparendaam shooting

Dead: 22 – year – old Michael Hamilton.

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Police are on the hunt for a man who is now the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Michael Hamilton of 128 Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara on Monday October 7.

Police have identified the suspected shooter as Oswald (no name or address provided).

According to the police, investigations have revealed that Michael Hamilton’s sister was at home when she heard an explosion, upon looking outside she saw her brother running after Oswald with blood streaming down his left leg.

Police reports further stated that as Hamilton got closer to Oswald, he turned around and shot him to his chest and made good his escape.

He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to information reaching iNews, Oswald is believed to be a member of a popular criminal gang. Relatives of the deceased explained that the killing steamed from a sexual affair one of Hamilton’s cousin had with a girl who was apparently in a relationship with Oswald.

They alleged that members of the gang had fired shots at their house several times in the past and despite several reports being made to the police nothing was done and expressed grave disappointed that nothing was done by the police to prevent such an unfortunate incident.
