According to an eyewitness account of the accident which occurred around 1700h yesterday evening on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown, Damion Bourne was riding his  CG  motorcycle registration number CD 2567 heading north along the western lane on  Mandela Avenue, when he attempted to turn right into the Rubis Gas station crashing head-on  into  a car which was proceeding  in the opposite direction, shattering the front windscreen of the vehicle.

Reports reaching INews indicate that Bourne was taken to a city hospital for medical attention in a semi-conscious state. It appears that he had sustained head injuries since eyewitnesses say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the car; Toyota Corolla PHH 3418, was escorted to the nearby East La Penitence Police Station where he assisted police with the investigations.
