Man accused of murdering Kaneville machine operator remanded

Ryon Carter, 22, of lot twelve Avenue Diamond, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was today arraigned for the murder of Ishwar Ramanah before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

The unemployed man was remanded to prison and will reappear on February 22, 2018.

Ramanah, 30, called “Jack,” of 624 Macaw Drive, Kaneville, East Bank Demerara succumbed after he was shot to his abdomen on December 13, 2017, when two armed bandits invaded his home just after midnight.

The machine operator was attacked and relieved of a gold chain valued at $40,000, before the bandits made good their escape.

The injured man was taken to seek medical attention at a medical facility, and had undergone surgery. However, he succumbed to his injures one month after the incident.

The police were able to recover a spent shell casing of a small calibre weapon at the crime scene.

Carter was subsequently arrested by ranks of “A” Division and placed on an Identification Parade, where he was positively identified as the man who killed Ramanah during the home invasion.
