Rape accused: Dellon Blake

Two days after a rape accused managed to flee the Lusignan Prison, Police have confirmed that he has been apprehended.

According to a Police statement, “prompt and spirited actions by a resident of Soesdyke/Linden area has led to the recapture of prison escapee, Delon Blake who escaped from lawful custody at the Lusignan Prison on Wednesday October 04, 2017.”

He had been admitted to prison in July 24, 2017 on several rape charges.

INews had previously reported that Delon Blake, whose last address was given as Kumuni Creek Demerara River, West Bank Demerara was discovered missing on Wednesday last after a verification exercise was conducted at the prison.

Police in a subsequent release detailed that Blake was able to escape by using “ his bed sheet and wooden pallets to help himself over the fence on the north western side in full view of Police Ranks performing duties in the guard hut tower, overlooking the new holding facility at the Prison.”

Moreover, the inmate was able to escape even though the area is well illuminated.

As such, a Detective Superintendent of Police had been assigned to conduct an investigation into the incident. 

Meanwhile, Police are still hunting for the three remaining prison escapees, Bartica Massacre murder convict, Mark Durant Williams aka Smallie, Cobena Stephens (both of whom escaped from the Camp Street Prison) and Lusignan Prison escapee, Paul Goriah.
