[www.inewsguyana.com] – There was some amount of disappointment as rain had the final say in the conclusion of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation Inter Association basketball championships where Linden were declared regional champions as there was no play at the McKenzie Sports Club last Saturday night.
Linden had beaten Georgetown in the Men’s clash at Linden 58-50 and lost 71-70 on the return leg. But with a better head to head differential point in the games played and Linden expected to win over Berbice, they were eventually named winners.
In the female category, Linden after winning against Georgetown 59-44 in the only game played came out as champions when their game was also rained out while the Under 19 clash between Linden and Berbice also was not played due to the inclement weather.
But an optimistic President of the Federation Nigel Hinds offered his comments after he converted the occasion into a handing over ceremony to distribute a new Game Clock and a Shot Clock to the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA).
The BABA was also presented with basketballs and boots, while the Linden and Georgetown Amateur Basketball Associations receiving similar donations which were held inside the McKenzie Sports Club.
