Labourer fined $3000 for narcotics possession

A Labourer was on Friday placed on $3000 fine and 20 hours of community service after he appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged with narcotics possession.

Winston John, a labourer of who hails from West Ruimveldt in Georgetown stood before the court to answer to the charge which alleged that on February 25, at Hunter Street, he had in his possession 3 grams of cannabis (ganja).

John pleaded guilty to the charge and requested that the court be lenient with him and promised to never make it happen again.
He was placed on $3000 fine and 20 hours of community service or an alternative of two months imprisonment and warned that if ever again he is brought before the court, he will be remanded.
