Guyana takes series against Bermuda with easy win

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Guyana came out with full confidence after a game one win against Bermuda to clinch the three game series with a 66-55 win on Thursday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Guyana pushed the pace of the game, almost turning the encounter into a track meet with their style of play.

However, it was the third period that really made the difference as the Guyanese locked down the visitors with their defence, only allowing Bermuda to score five points in the third period.

Guyana continued their fast paced tempo as Travis Burnett led the Guyanese team in scoring with 16 points while Captain Akeem Kanhai had 14 points and seven rebounds. Shelroy Thomas also had 13 points in the win.

Despite Bermuda’s Captain Sullivan Phillips on court leadership, Bermuda was unable to make a final push to win the game as Phillips ended with 14 points while Jason Lowe had a game high 21 points. Dean Jones also had 11 points in the loss.

Coach of the Guyanese side, Darcel Harris will aim to utilize most of his younger players for evaluation purposes in the final game set for Saturday from 20:00h.
