[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Linden leg kicked off with a bang on Wednesday evening with six games that thrilled the Linden community that turned out in abundance.
Commacka looked like a team to beat in the tournament with a 4-nil drubbing of Exodus as Rondell Edmonson put on a one man show to score of four goals of the game in the fourth, eight, 13th and 17th minutes respectively.
Half Mile/One Mile led by a double from star player Rawle Gittens in the fifth and eight minutes topped Goal Getters 4-1. Steve Brewley scored in the 14th minute while Shawn Gittens scored in the 18th to be the other goal scorers for Half Mile/One Mile. The lone goal for Goal Getters came from Quincy Black.
Retrieve Unknowns needled Ripping Bullets 1-0 with Stephon Tappin scoring the game’s lone goal. Russians topped South Stars 1-nil as well with Tavis Waterton providing the game’s only goal.
Silver Bullets in game five easily topped High Star 4-1as Colwyn Drakes provided the crowd with four entertaining goals in the sixth, ninth, 14th and 17th minutes. High Star’s consolation goal came from Jermain Adams in the 18th minute.
Meanwhile, the only game to draw came when Attackers met Eagles in a 1-1 encounter. However, Attackers got the win via a 2-0 penalty kicks shootout. The tournament is expected to continue tonight with another six games.
