shot-320x265[www.inewsguyana.com]The Director of Public Prosecutions, Shalimar Ali-Hack has ordered the re – opening of the murder case against former Guyanese cricketer, Carlyle Barton.

Barton walked out of the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court a free man on November 19 following a ruling by Magistrate Fabio Azore.

Barton was charged with the murder of 37 – year old Shawn Nelson, which took place May 27 at Orange Walk Georgetown. The Cricketer was caught on surveillance camera shooting his friend, who died a few days later at the Georgetown Hospital.

However, despite the entire incident being caught on tape, the Magistrate had no choice but to dismiss the murder charge against Barton since police investigators and other witnesses have failed to turn up in Court to provide evidence.

However, at this point in time, it is not yet known if Barton is still in Guyana. Barton is accused of shooting Shawn Nelson in his head early Sunday morning [May 26] as Nelson was walking, on his way to work.

The 39 – year – old man was shot at point-blank range to the left side of his head and it is believed the bullet exited the right side. He collapsed on the roadside and the cricketer jumped in his car and sped away from the scene leaving the bleeding Nelson behind.

A passer-by who works at the Georgetown Hospital summoned the ambulance which rushed the man to the emergency room.

After driving away from the scene, the young man crashed his car a number of times as he panicked his way home. The car was abandoned in the East Ruimveldt area.
