Digicel launches breast cancer cycle race

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Digicel in conjunction with the Avon Community Help Fund (ACHF) launched their annual Breast Cancer Cycle Road Race today, Tuesday, October 14.

At a press conference, Events and Sponsorship Manager of Digicel, Gavin Hope noted the reason for their continued alliance with the ACHF.

“The work they have been doing made us decide that we needed to have a signature event to spread awareness on cancer and more specifically breast cancer,” Hope noted.

Juditha DaCosta, Acting Chairperson of ACHF revealed that there will be a number of activities commencing from October 19 as they look to spread awareness on the dreaded disease.

DaCosta also thanked Digicel for their support and commitment to the event as well as to spreading awareness on breast cancer.

President of the Guyana Cycling Federation Cheryl Thompson commended Digicel for their effort in with breast cancer as well involving the federation.

Thompson also stressed that the race will be exciting as the cyclists are pumped for the event. The race will start at Rosignol head to Georgetown before circling the outer circuit of the National Park ending at the Park’s Carifesta entrance.

The top prize will be $250,000 with Digicel spending approximately $1.3M in prizes. The race is expected to start at 09:00hrs.
