Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Corentyne pensioner after he was allegedly struck down on the Tain, Corentyne Public Road on Sunday evening.
Dead is Andre Buchan also called Nalvan of Lot 51 Block 4, Tain Settlement, Corentyne.
Based on information received, at around 19:00hrs last evening, Buchan was in the process of crossing the public road when a motor car struck him down.
However, the driver of the vehicle reportedly refused to stop at the scene and instead drove off before anyone could properly identify him or his vehicle.
The police were contacted by public spirited persons. Buchan was subsequently pronounced dead.
