Church Security Guard shot in street robbery

gun[www.inewsguyana.com] – Fifty – three – year – old Garbey Blackman of Block ‘E’ South Sophia was shot once to his right abdomen and is presently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

The man is a Security Guard attached to the Assembly of God Headquarters in Queenstown, Georgetown.

iNews has been informed that the man, who worked Monday [July 07] night into Tuesday morning was heading home through Jamoon Drive Meadow Brook when the incident occurred.

He told investigators that he was riding east along Jamoon Drive when he noticed a young man, who appeared to be in his late teens approaching. He said the man walked up to him, held him at gunpoint and demanded all his valuables.

According to the injured man, before he could have responded, two shots rang out. An alarm was raised and the man fled while persons rushed to the injured man’s aid and took him to the hospital.

iNews has been informed that the injured man is presently in theatre to have the lodged bullet removed. The police have not been able to arrest anyone for the robbery. (Leroy Smith)
