Chess Federation seeks to boost sport, advocates for trainer’s extension


[] – Sport Minister Dr. Frank Anthony over the last week met the newly elected members of the Guyana Chess Federation.

The Irshad Mohamed led Federation met with the Minister in his boardroom during which several topical issues were discussed.

One such issue was the development of the sport at the school level, something the new members of the Federation have been speaking about.

According to Mohamed, they are seeking compliance with the World Chess Federation, which has been coaxing affiliates to comply.

In addition to that, the Federation is keen on the extension for a FIDE trainer who will work along with the locals in order to boost the sport here. Issues of current development were also discussed during the meeting.
