The police have just confirmed that four men have been arrested and are in custody in relation to the shocking and brutal murders/robbery of businessman Arthur Doodnauth Rajkumar, 81 years, and his 41-year-old reputed wife Diane Chamanlall.
According to a police media release, at about 03:00 hrs Saturday January 09, 2016, acting on a report received police ranks went to a home at Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, and as they approached the building three men were seen jumping over a fence on the premises. The police gave chase but at the time the men managed to escape.
Upon checking the house which was ransacked, the ranks found Rajkumar and Diane Chamanlall with multiple chop wounds about their bodies. They were taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where Rajkumar was pronounced ‘dead on arrival’ and Chamanlall succumbed while receiving medical attention.
INews understands that the murdered couple used to operate an icecream parlour at their Bush Lot home in Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice) where they lived alone.
Reports indicate that the 81-year-old Rajkumar was brutally chopped about the body and his neck was almost severed.
The now dead wonam’s brother, Vishal Jodhan also pointed out that it was a brutal attack on his sister who sustained about nine chop wounds about her body – including on her hands, face and head.
Police are continuing their investigations.

So many ignorant people, just blinded by racism. Crimes are solved, perpetrators are caught and yet it’s the fault of the government. Most of these areas that are targeted are predominantly Hindu guyanese. These people are being targeted and attacked by their own. It’s ur neighbours children, uncle, brother, friends.
