Body of man found floating in trench as Zeelugt identified…PM shows he died from drowning

The body that was found this morning floating in a trench at the Zeelugt village, East Bank Essequibo (EBE). has been identified as 54-year-old Doodnauth Persaud a.k.a “Naresh” of Tuschen, EBE.

Persaud’s body was discovered around 05:45hrs today when passersby who had been crossing the “Ridwan Bridge” in the area noticed that there was something large floating in the trench.

bodyUpon further inspection they realised that the object which they were seeing was that of a man’s body which was lying face down.

An alarm was raised and the relevant authorities were notified about the discovery.

INews understands that the trench where the man’s body was found separates his village of Tuschen from Zeelugt. It is believed that Persaud was returning home when he met his demise.

The man was last seen on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 by his relatives and friends. According to a police source, Persaud is an alcoholic who is unemployed, and suffers from epilepsy.

A Post Mortem Examination was conducted on his body earlier today where it was revealed that he died from drowning.

Another source stated that Persaud may have suffered from a epilepsy attack and then fell into the waters where he died.
