This resulted in the children’s step-father, Mark Halley’s medical condition taking a turn for the worse as he is said to have developed a serious heart complication due to receiving the shocking news.

A source close to the investigation told INews earlier today that post mortems were conducted on the two children which revealed that the 10-month-old boy died from a fractured skull, while his sister succumbed due to multiple wounds.

Meanwhile, the mother of the dead children, Michell Miguel was today, discharged from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

A source told INews that once Halley is out of hospital he will face the necessary charges.

In the wee hours of September, 13, 2016, the family of four in the company of a friend – who is also a member of the Guyana Police Force- identified only as “Carter”, were reportedly travelling to Parika, East Bank Essequibo, to pick up goods, when they slammed into two parked vehicles on the public road at Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara.

There are reports that Haley, who was the driver of the vehicle, swerved from a dog which resulted in him losing control of the vehicle. It is also alleged that he was speeding at the time of the accident.
