[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Guyana Elections Commission  (GECOM) moments ago released another set of preliminary results from the General and Regional Elections held on May 11 which showed the incumbent People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) lagging behind its main challenger APNU+AFC by 43 votes.

According to the raw data released by the elections commission, APNU+AFC has managed to acquire 157, 347 votes while the PPP/C has won 157,304.

However in the Regional polls, the PPP/C is leading the APNU+AFC but again, only by a small margin.

PPP/C recorded a total of 146,804 votes while the APNU+AFC secured 146,250 votes a difference of 554 votes in favour of the incumbent.

GECOM’s CEO Keith Lowenfield said that GECOM has only processed 1809 Statements of Polls and the remaining 490 Statement would be processed available by morning.

  1. Joey you should learn to read properly before you make a statement like that.the regional tally has a difference of 403 votes

  2. i think all of us Guyanese shud accept that one has to won, since someone has to lead us and take the country forward matters not what race ,or clour, we all have one blood ,and the only way our country can have peace is if we stop fighting each other and hold each other hands …but how many of us thinks like that ..we can only have a better guyana when those ppl who r ignorance of race put it behind and starts to live in love n unity …..

  3. The PPP/C is still dreaming, maybe they will be fully awaken by noon today. Let the people of Guyana unite once and for all!

  4. APNU+AFC Media Release
    Wednesday May 13th 2015
APNU+AFC condemns GECOM selective announcement of results
and exclusion of Region 4 SoPs
The APNU+AFC Coalition is immensely disappointed and alarmed by GECOM’s selective announcement of results at its press conference of 9pm, Wednesday May 13.
From the results announced it is obvious to the APNU+AFC Coalition that GECOM is cherry picking Statements of Poll to report on, in order to create an illusion of a close race. This is being specifically done by excluding Statements of Poll from Region 4 where the Coalition has established a significant lead.
Of a total of 891 SoPs in Region 4, GECOM deliberately chose to report on only 474, leaving 417 unreported. We can find no acceptable reason for excluding such a large number of SoPs from Region 4 in the announced results.
Therefore the announcements made by GECOM this evening are irresponsible, reckless and provocative and appear designed to cause confusion and discord among Guyanese who are already in a state of anxiety and unease.
Further APNU+AFC is particularly appalled that GECOM reneged on a solemn commitment to announce 94% of the results this evening. This commitment was made by the GECOM commissioners to an APNU+AFC delegation led by the Presidential Candidate Brigadier David Granger. Instead GECOM announced 78% of the results while deliberately excluding large numbers of SoPs from Region 4.
APNU+AFC calls on all supporters and the Guyanese public to remain calm and not be provoked by these irresponsible announcements from GECOM. We remain confident that the Coalition has established an unassailable lead and will form the next Government of Guyana.

  5. well we jus gotta see what pops up in the remaining boxes and y wen asked what the previous count was the chairman repeated the current count

  6. Can’t anyone in Guyana understand Math including this news report.

    If APNU/AFC has 157347
    And PPP has 157304
How can the difference be 403 votes.

    The difference is only 40
