[www.inewsguyana.com] – Leader of the Opposition and A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) David Granger has expressed distress at the reported statement made by Minister of Foreign Affairs (ag)Priya Manickchand.

“APNU regards her remarks as vulgar and worse than useless,” the Party said in a statement.

Last evening (July, 02) during the US independence celebration at the home of the United States Ambassador, Brent Hardt, Minister Manickchand unleashed Government’s wrath on the Ambassador, calling his conduct ‘unprofessional and undiplomatic’; this did not sit well with those gathered and the Minister was booed throughout her speech and left in a hurry with Government’s Chief Whip, Gail Teixeira.

APNU is calling on President Donald Ramotar to disassociate his Administration from “these worthless remarks and issue an unconditional apology to Ambassador Hardt and the people of the United States of America.”

APNU says it is astonished that such remarks could be used by a Government Official in light of the cordial relationship existing between the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and the United States of America.
