Marriot-300x168[www.inewsguyana.com] – With its scheduled opening date fast approaching, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh has assured that the Guyana Marriott Hotel remains committed to employing as many Guyanese as it possibly can.

He told reporters tonight [Thursday, June 03] that the hotel will commence its recruitment process soon; adding that its intention is to provide complimentary training to persons hired in a bid match the five star service it is known for around the world.

“I’m sure they will recruit persons with some amount of experience and expertise which they will compliment with their own personal training in a bid to equip those persons with the necessary skills,” he said.

Singh is adamant that the service provided here will be no less on par with the services provided by the well-known brand around the world.

The facility is expected to provide employment for close to 500 Guyanese upon completion. Dr. Singh could not say when the new Chairman and Board will be installed.

Roberto Grisi was recently appointed as the General Manager and assumed his new role effective June 1, 2014. The hotel seems to be on target for an August 2014 commissioning.
