A 28-year-old suspected bandit, who allegedly committed a robbery about 10:00hrs on Tuesday on a Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) resident, was subsequently arrested by police after he was found in the act of changing his vehicle’s licence plates on the Railway embankment.

According to information from the police, the ECD victim allegedly withdrew a sum of cash from an ATM in the area when he was ambushed by three men, who stole the money and made good their escape in a Toyota Spacio motorcar.

The matter was immediately reported to police who responded promptly and were able to intercept the car.

INews was told that the driver -identified as a South Ruimveldt, Georgetown resident- was found alone, changing the licence plates.

However, none of the stolen money was recovered.

Investigations continue as a search for the other two suspects is ongoing.
