WICB extends invitation to CCC for super 50

[www.inewsguyana.com]The combined campuses and colleges will be a part of the 2014 edition Super 50 Tournament following the West Indies Cricket Board of Directors final meeting for 2013 in St Kitts over the weekend.

The team which was rumored to be axed was extended a special invitation alongside the six territorial teams In Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago and Windward Islands.

The teams will join up with Ireland for the 6 territory championship and will be competing for the Clive Lloyd trophy.

The board approved the draft schedule for the wicb super50 tournament as well as secured a major sponsor both of which will be released shortly

The board appointed two new directors – Mr. Billy Heaven and Dr. Donovan Bennett while a report from the newly appointed director of cricket Mr. Richard Pybus indicated that a system review from the grassroots level to the international side will be done.

It also approved a training programme for umpires and match referees while an update on progress of the West Indies retired players foundation was also given a report.

The board also approved a draft schedule for the regional 4 day tournament and also approved a decision to play seven day/night matches.

Meanwhile president Whycliffe ‘Dave’ Cameron advised the board of the ICC decision to play an international women’s championship and approved the request to participate in the event.
